Aufgrund eines fehlerhaft konfigurierten Servers waren Millionen Kundendaten über eine Datenbank der Autovermietung Buchbinder online verfügbar. Allein in Deutschland sind 2,5 Millionen Personen betroffen. Das Missbrauchspotenzial der öffentlich verfügbaren Daten wir als “hoch” eingeschätzt. Die Daten reichen bis in das Jahr 2003 zurück. Das Bundesministerium für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik warnt vor Phishingwellen und verweist auf die Seite zum Thema Identity theft. Insofar as the competent data protection supervisory authority detects an infringement, a heavy fine is to be expected.
